2002 dodge ram van V6 Sign In

Hey. I have an 02 Ram Van with the 3.9 ltr V6 with 73,000 miles. I have multiple trouble but the one really bothering me is... the engine seems to "die down" randomly. I say randomly, it mostly happens when I first start up and go. At idle the engine will die down until the rpm's are so low i think it's going to stall. then it surges and brings the idle back to normal... and repeats itself. If i try to leave, the van will get a few yards down the road and then act like i've run out of gas. it starts to die. when i press the gas, it seems like the engine is either flooding or not getting gas (whether in neutral or drive). I have to pull over, shut the van off and restart it. then it seems to be fine for the rest of the trip. any thoughts? questions? I haven't done any work to correct this problem yet as I just bought the van... thanks for your help!

It sound like it could be a fuel problem.....I would do a fuel pressure check first, it might just be a dirty fuel filter or the fuel pump starting to die, but this is where I would start checking at.

Have the battery tested under load. Dodge is sensitive to low battery voltages. If the battery is weak, it can cause your symptoms.
