2002 ford focus problems

Hi, My 2002 ford focus was not driven for around two months, and it seems to have caused the car a few problems. When I started driving it again today, I pulled away the car cut out - this happened a few times, eventually when it doesn't cut out the car is very sluggish and seems to have no power at all in first or second gear, it also jolts and shakes while in 4th and 5th gear, again while in them gears the car is very sluggish and seems to have no force or power in it. While the car was not being used it was parked on a street which is on a hill, the engine was facing up the hill. The car was in serious need of petrol as it only had a little in to begin with, also the oil was very low. Could this have caused some damage? Also I noticed that the speedometer, temp gauge and rev count all didnt work on the dashboard and the digital mileage doesn't work. I used the lcd screen to check to see how much km I had left in petrol but when i filled up the car with pertol and starting driving the km was very quickly dropping. sorry if they are two separate questions , I don't no if these problems relate to each other. Any idea on what could be wrong would be really appreciated Thanks

sounds like a fuel delivery problem try changing the fuel filter if that doesn't help the pump/sender may be at fault. when your low on gas the strainer picks up alot if stuff in the bottom of the tank. I would also pick up some fic (fuel injection cleaner) and try that. cheap at first. can't hurt right

No, don't just arbitrarily throw parts at it. You can easily confirm a fuel problem using a fuel pressure gauge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I'm sorry you are right i jumped the gun on that one. i was just thingking that he may not have a pressure gage around or know some mechanic that would lend out a $50 tool to someone. but again you are right fuel pressure test would confirm these symptoms.

Many of the parts stores have tool loaner programs.
