Hi Ive had my 2003 1.8 focus tddi for a few weeks. Was reversing down hill and quickly went into 1st and stalled with a very big jolt! Not like a normal stall. The engine is turning over with normal sound but wont start. No smoke at all from exhaust when turning over and wont jump start. Is it possible the car thinks it was hit and has cut off the fuel? Could an abrupt stall damage the pump? Thanks Jfcquinn

We don't have that vehicle here in the states, but isn't that driven by a timing belt? If you are in reverse going down a hill and then throw it up into 1st and pop the clutch, more than likely you stall the engine. If your still rolling down the hill in 1st with the clutch engaged and engine stalled, the engine will spin backwards. Not too hard to throw a timing belt by having the engine spin backwards. If your car has an inertia switch that was tripped, that would kill the fuel. Your owners manual should tell you the location and how to reset it if tripped. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
