2005 grand cherokee starts and stops Sign In

Hi

I am from kuwait. I have a grand cherokee 2005 v8 hemi. I am having problem with starts. The jeep starts and stops. I get all lights on dash board which shows service 4wd system and service electric brake systems. If leave the jeep ideal for half an hour or so ot will start fine again. Some time if I am in hurry I keep on trying it starts and work fine. I have taken to dealer and to mechanic with no success. I have changed the ignition swtich but that also did not work. Please help. Further some time while I drive transmission over temp also comes.

thank you

If a dealer didn't have any suggestions it's going to be difficult or hope you can try again. I'd begin with code reading and write the #s down.

It's about 10 years old and probably ready for a lot of checks and services done. Cooling system may need attention especially.

Is this Jeep a US version or specific for export? I don't know what Jeep/Chrysler might have done but there should be markings under the hood and door jam or even in owner's manual (hope you have that) with info that could help find out if anything is unique to it for it's point of original destination.

If this will not do this problem or show codes in front of mechanics you have to try to make it do it in front of them as it seems you mean it's trouble starting when hot/warm after driving but not so much just setting at idle,

  suggestions:
1) scan for codes- ESP the security system
2) if applicable - is there a remote starter? - get rid of it

Hi

Its not that its giving lights all time. Whenever I have taken to dealer and shown either by driving or by towing it works fine. Its like the patient becone become fine as soon as it sees doctor.
Its specific for export to middle east.

Seems like it just isn't acting up in front of anyone and perhaps this "export" version doesn't use a computer code system like ones known to the US where most of the techs here are from.

Sometimes when a problem just wont show itself you can try to ask if a tech will use YOUR vehicle for a couple days with the description of what might happen and be ready to do some checks right on the spot. Your call and theirs if that's practical at all.

As "kev2" said get rid of any remote start AFTERMARKET anything for that matter that has to do with the way it runs not originally installed on this........
