2006 Chev Impala oil leak Sign In

2006 Chev Impala leaks oil from someplace at top of engine.
Dlr says leak may be coming from some sort of a plate added
to engine where a distributor would be mounted. Engine
is a distributor-less engine, so w/o distributor, sounds as
if a plate is installed to cover hole where distributor was
installed. Plate is under upper manifold. Dealer had previously
changed lower manifold, valve cover gaskets, stating oil leak
came from them. I have never heard of such a plate. Any
experiences w/ this type of problem? Plate is under upper
manifold and cannot see where leak is coming from - Dlr
has placed dye into oil, but I do not see them finding the
leak, otherwise they would have initially fixed problem.
Yr: 2006. 3.9 liter engine

This engine wasn't even around when they used distributors so this engine was never even designed to take none. Your leak could be anywhere and it just needs to be examined closer. Don't rule out gaskets that were previously replaced because it's entirely possible for them to be leaking also.

They could mean the oil pump drive. The oil pump drive is located near the lower intake manifold china wall in the block where the transmission bolts up. You should be able to tell if the o ring is leaking on the oil pump drive.
