Checked? What dies checked mean? Do you have power arriving and leaving the neutral switch? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Look under the right front bumper cover at the wiring harness. We have had a lot of wires break in there where the moisture sits in a low spot. You can get to the harness without removing the cover. It is easier accessed from under the vehicle. Make sure it is safely supported. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

Well Scooter, you found the right site for sure with this car. Hammer Time owns a shop, and you just happen to be getting advice from Way2Old who maintains an entire fleet of Crown Vic police cars. If the solution can't be found here, it can't be found.

Hopefully it is a police car with the police package option because if it is a want-a-be police car, it has PATS. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

It is a police car I am a trustee for the sherrifs dept working on their patrol cars .... I am not sure where the harness runs under the right side of the bumper, do you mean where the fuse box harness runs under ???? ..... as for how I am testing the fuses and relays I only have a test light and visual .... no voltmeter.... i know i am missing something simple .. can't believe i can't find it.....

Test the relay socket. You should have power all the time at pin 30 and on pin 86 when the key is held in start. If you jump pin 30 to pin 87, it should crank. Pin 85 should be constant ground.

Look under the right front where the harness comes down under the power distribution box. It hangs down and then goes back up to cross the bumper. If I remember right, the wire might be a green with a red tracer. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

I have the diagram posted above Tom. I don't see any green/red in the circuit. Which one are you looking for. There is a ltgreen/violet that feeds the ignition switch. If he tests the socket, we'll at least have a direction.

Working from memory here HT. He may be able to access it down in front of the right headlamp. There is a large wiring harness going across the front bumper. I believe there is also a brown wire there that is likely to break. I will check more at the shop tomorrow. It is just a matter of getting the wiring harness opened and looking for it. I realize this is a really old post, but I am having the same issue. What would I need to do to check the Relay socket? I appreciate any help on this deal. I tried jumping those two pens, 87 and 30 with the key turned on and it starts. I can also jump it from the one pen straight to the battery and it’ll start also put a new starter on because I thought maybe it was a solenoid Still no start with key. Thanks.
