2011 Kia Rio5 1.6l timing belt. Never done one. Anything I should know going in? Not sure about special tools or any tricky spots.

Don't have the procedure available to me, but it books at 3.2 hours if you have AC, 3 hours flat without it. I'd use a Gates kit on it, Gates PN for that one is TCK282. Big thing to remember is to keep anything from moving when the belt is off. This is an interference engine and you will have damage if the crank gets turned out of synch with the cams. A DOHC cam clamp tool would be useful to have.

Bring it up on #1 before taking the covers off and then mark that point after taking the cover off.

Don't disregard those warnings about rotating the motor with the belt off or you will be bending some valves.

Got it done. About 3.5 hrs taking it slow. Only one camshaft sprocket driven by belt so no dohc cam lock needed. All the cvvt stuff must be on the other end of the camshafts where a chain connects them. Only a couple minor hangups- getting tbelt tensioner pulley and spring back on is tricky. I ended up starting the spring bolt first, then working the spring on its stops with a long screwdriver. Also, putting double pulley back on water pump that has limited clearance while trying to line up two separate pulleys and get a bolt started in water pump flange. All in all, not too bad.
