2013 ford expedition 5.4 130K kms

turned engine off then wont start, was hard starting before, replaced fuel pump, still no start, turns over good and will run if fuel is sprayed into throttle body, all fuses and relays are good, visual of wiring is good, no codes, battery is no good and needs a boost to turn over, also fuel tank is not in place (sitting on blocks) with fuel cap off, owner said there was a P2107 code when this first happened.

There was no 5.4 engine available for an Explorer in 2013. Please correct whatever is wrong with the question. Also answer these questions Is the "check engine" light coming on for a bulb check when the key is first turned on? MFD by Ford 06/13 yes, must be 2014 model, tag under the hood is 5.4L-Group, Check engine light does come on, how would I check spark and injector pulse?

You need to get to the bottom of that issue. We can't begin to help until we accurately identify the correct engine. According to Alldata, there were no V8 engines available. only 4 or 6 cylinder so start out by counting the cylinders. It's always possible someone changed the plastic part with the sticker on it from another vehicle. Yeah, that's a big mistake. How about the check engine light test? Did you look at that? Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on. Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. Check engine light does come on, engine will run with gas sprayed into throttle body.

OK, that will eliminate spark then. One more quick thing to check before going for injector pulse Behind the inside panel, just to the left of the tailgate, you will find the Inertia fuel pump cutoff switch. fuel pump cutoff switch is OK, there is power to one side of injector.

OK, you will still likely need to get a noid light to test for injector pulse but in the meantime we have to check for power in and out of the Inertia switch. Remember, this only powers for 2 seconds when the key is first turned on so you will need a helper to test this. Just one comment on inertia switches: Check continuity and bat+ both side of the thing popped out or not. AYOR I've just jumped over those to test hearing pump work 1st thing is it was bad? Double check, Tom

I will try to do the pulse test, I'll check inertia switch. won't get back till late tomorrow, or next day. I'm in a small Canadian northern community, no automotive shop, nearest is 300 kms.

These Fords use a variable pressure system operated by and FPDM (Fuel pump Driver Module) and it's starting to look like that is the problem but this type of system is usually troubleshooted using a bidirectional scan tool capable of activating the module for testing. The module is located on top of the crossover frame rail at the back of the truck. If you find power at both sides of the Inertia switch, that eliminates the relay and related fuses. I think you can probably skip the injector testing for the time being as the problem seems to be isolated to the FPDM. While trying to find a good place to test the Inertia switch I noticed some frayed and damaged wires, they were for the switch, repaired the wiring and started the engine. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I learned a lot. P/S I'm a Heavy Duty Mechanic, but enjoy working on most anything.
