Im not familiar with these stuff but my engine stopped running on christmas day. My friend was the one driving. He says the engine revved and stopped completely. An oil leak was then seen. I had the car sent to a mechanic shop and their diagnosis says that the engine has to be replaced completely. Theyre coming up with a 10k+ quote for that. I'm working with the warranty company but im well aware how that can end. The diagnosis quotes " Found no oil on dipstick, engine will not start with starter but will rotate some by hand. On lift, inspected and found crankshaft position sensor has been blown out of engine and steel oil pan has been dented out from the inside. Using borescope found internal engine damage (see image 4), possible #4 connecting rod failure." Can anyone suggest a better alternative to how i can approach this?

I don't know what you are expecting to find. Everything you are describing says it ran too low on oil and threw a connecting rod through the oil pan. There is no other solution other than a new engine and there is no way warranty will pay for this given there was no oil in the engine. The only possible way you could save any money is by putting a good used engine in. This result was totally due to your lack of maintenance and general driver responsibility of making sure all fluid levels and tire pressure are correct before driving. This is an expensive lesson learned. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
