When I ground out the cylinders on the distributer cap, cylinders 3 and 5 show no change in performance. I checked for spark and they both had spark. I took out the spark plugs and they too had spark. I did a compression test on 5 and at idle it was at 25-30 lbs when I accelerated to about 2000rpm it went to about 40 to 50 lbs but the needle was rapidly fluctuating. I know a valve problem would cause it to fluctuate but I just can't see valves going out in 2 cylinders. Could this be a head gasket or a cracked head? Will either of these problems cause the gage needle to fluctuate? I don't see exaust smoke or water (sludge) in the dip stick or the in the pcv valve. Any Ideas? If you running a dynamic compression test, those cylinders should be showing half what the static compression is. If that is true, you should have low static compression with those numbers.
