Has an aftermarket 390 under the hood, and a fuel cell in the back of the truck. Problem is, water sometimes leaks into the fuelcell over about a year, so around once a year we get water in the fuel, then into the engine. Before we've taken it to a repair shop to have them fix it, but I'm wondering if there's a way we can do it ourselves. It turns over, but it absolutely will not fire. It happened suddenly, like it had run out of gas while I was driving it. Sputtered a couple of times, kept going for maybe 30 feet, then just died, and even after putting more gas into the fuel cell, it still won't fire. I realize I probably need to entirely drain the fuel cell to get the water out, but I'm not sure how to get the water out of the Engine so it can fire properly. Any advise would be appreciated.

If you are getting water it's from low use. Isopropyl dry gas can help. Good luck, T

No, its not from low use. There's a fuel cell in the back of the truck instead of the gas tanks (which had rusted out). Whenever it rains, water tends to collect on top of the fuel cell, so a little water can get into the tank when we refill it. We've tried to figure out a way to stop water from getting in, but some still gets in every now and again. So we need to figure out a way to get the water out of the engine.

Pardon my igforance - but what the heck is a fuel celll?? I call them gas tanks. I'm an old Ford manicac -- lots older than 1971!!. Wish I still had my '63 Falcon but rust is rust and it wins where I am. If you have the fortitude, let's not let your old truck croak! T

Self Contained gas tank. Its pretty much a regular gas tank (I still have no idea why its called a fuel cell) that is set into the bed of the truck instead of under it.
