My son has a 91 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3800 V6, Here is what it has been doing , i went to the store shut the car off and it wouldn't startup. I used starting fluid to get it running stopped to get gas did the same thing. starting fluid didn't work. after sitting it cranked and ran fine for 2 days. It quit again on my son after driving some 20 miles from school.Same thing again sat for awhile drove another 20 miles home carried tto a mechanic could fix it because it would qiut again. thate has been a couple of times it has quit and started back up after a short time. Yesterday it did it died twice andcranked back up . i repalced a line going to the vapor canister after thet itwould turn over but not run it sat for over 3 hours and cranked up no problems. I have replaced the ingnition moduel it still did it and the fuel filter today.I notice that the rpms flucaite when it idlesand after warm up it will drop to 800 rpms . it will suddenly sugre to about 1000rpms and drop down to 500 rpms. any help is appreciated. It might be wise to have the ecm (computer) checked first. If you are not getting any fire to the plugs along with the fuel pump no working....most likely the ecm is going out.
