Hi, I was looking for a "cheap" car and I found a fairly nice looking 1994 Chevy Lumina Euro 4 door with 160k miles on the older 3.1L Multi-Port FI V6, but the dealer says "it overheats" and that was all he knew. I really like the car but don't have the money to fix it if it becomes a ticking time bomb. I know overheating something too bad can crack the block, but I was hoping someone could give me some pointers on what it could be and what to look for, plus what damage overheating can do to the engine as well. If I just took it to a repair shop, would they know what all to look for? Its 45 miles away so I can't just drive it home I don't think. They want $650, It was higher but I don't remember how much. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Jayson

Jason, if the dealer already knows it's overheating->RED FLAG. It has overheated so damage done. The dealer made it known before-hand to cover themselves from warrantying the engine I'm sure. Your best bet is to keep looking for a vehicle and leave this headache behind. Steve
