1997 Chevy K1500 4X4 5.7 vortec 150,000 miles

My truck is misfiring. This just started happening after I had the intake gasket replaced. Sometimes it is worse than others. It doesn't do it when idling. It does it worst in the middle throttle increments. It does it less when applying full throttle. The truck usefully starts normally but once in a while it will slightly struggle starting kind of like you have a starter sticking. Seems like this started happening since the intake gasket was replaced but not 100 percent sure. The mechanic told me it was the plug wires as one had a torn boot and was turning on the distributor cap on it's own while driving. I replaced all of the plug wires and the truck is still misfiring. When I first drove the truck home after the intake repair, it drove great and had no issues. The misfiring started the next day after the repair. It has done it ever since. Please let me know if you have any ideas of what may be wrong or any things I can check out troubleshoot without any special tools. Thanks for any help.

Your first step is to have the computer scanned for stored codes. That will give you a starting point.

Thanks for the reply. I won't be back in town until Monday, so I can't get it scanned until then. Is there anything I can check or troubleshoot until then?

You are just wasting your time if you don't even know which cylinder is leaking yet or if there are any other issues recorded.
