When engine is cold starts instant I turn key, when warmed up cranks 4 or 5 times then rumbles to a slow start..changed plugs, wires, battery, fuel filter, cap and rotor, checked fuel pressure and shows right up to 55 psi then within 5 minutes it slowly drops to about 40 to 42 psi. Within 10 minutes it’s at 25 psi.

That fuel pressure drop could be leaking into the cylinders. If this is a Vortec, they are notorious for leaking fuel pressure regulators and spider injectors. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You can also install a fuel pressure shut off valve right after the fuel filter. Pressurize the system and see if the fuel pressure holds. That will take the fuel pump check valve out of the equation if it doesn't hold. Are there any trouble codes stored in the engine controller? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
