Acceleration issues Sign In

I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7L w/ over 239k miles. I have own the truck for almost 3 years now. I have been having issues with accelerating. I have no check engine light and the engine starts up and idles nicely. It’s had 2 tune ups, air filter changes, fuel injection service, MAF sensor cleaning, i regularly get the transmission fluid changed (drain & fill). It seems that I have to shift between 3000-4000 rpm for it to get somewhere. It seems like it shifts kind of hard. When I first bought the truck with 186k miles, it had much better acceleration than it does now. It doesn’t feel like an 8 cylinder at all. Passing power and overall performance has diminish. I love this truck and want to get it back on track performance wise. This is the only issue I have with it.

I would take it to an exhaust shop and have them test for a plugged Catalytic Converter.

I figured a clogged cat could be a strong possibility. Thanks! Also, do you think I should replace my o2 sensors as well?

Re: Acceleration issues Sign In

I didn't advise you to replace anything. Have it tested.
