Blazer eating rotor caps

My 94 blazer is going through rotor caps in 100 miles, each distribution nipple is chewed up , When I replace the cap and rotor I check the distributor and everything is tight, I make sure I seat the rotor and put the cap on good, is there anything I am missing, or am I going to have to replace the whole distributor? also its the 4.3 vortec engine. Thanks for any information! J Ps heres a good tip: if you have the on the fly transfercase(electronic) like my 94 and it won't engage or disengage, pull the tccm fuse and let it sit for 10 minutes, replace the fuse, then turn the ignition(with out enganging the starter) on and off 5 times, this resets the transfercase computer, it saved me a ton of money! Hey if it ain't broke make it better!

The rotor obviously isn't getting far enough down onto the dist shaft. Clean the rust off the shaft with fine grit emery cloth and put on a dab of dielectric grease before installing a new rotor, making sure it goes on all the way. I think this will eliminate your problem.

That worked liked a charm Motorhead! the rotor had a very distinct snap when it fit this time and the motor is humming! If you are ever in Eureka Springs Arkansas stop by the Alpen Dorf motel and I will cut you a very good deal on a nice room! Thanks again! J Hey if it ain't broke make it better!
