I'm part of a research project at my university where we have two flow meters mounted to a wall next to a diesel engine. We have to run fuel line from one end of one of the meters to intake of the engine, and then the other part of the meter will have fuel line ran to a gas tank. The other flow meter will have fuel line ran the same way, but it will be ran to the exit of the engine, and then the gas tank as well. So in esscence, there will be two loops formed, one to the intake of the engine, and one to the exit of the engine. My question is where would we place a bleeder valve in these loops? Do we need two?

Which model diesel engine and what type of fuel system does it have? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

With what type of fuel system? Is it common rail, pump line nozzle, unit injector, etc. ?? I would imagine that it would have some sort of bleeder type device or procedure already incorporated with the fuel system. You should check the operator's manual.
