Car engine shakes after few minutes of idle

Hi, I have a few questions regarding a problem my car is showing. Its an old Opel VECTRA B (36_) 1.8 i 16V 2000 115Hk and with 190000 Km. Around 10 minutes after starting the engine begins to rattle and shakes the car with engine light turning on. Initially it started as a every now and then few seconds of shake or hiccups but then it became more and more severe. And now it shakes even if I just start the car and let the engine run for few minutes. I guess the fuel consumption increased in the past month too. I changed the spark plugs but the problem didn't go away so its not that. I appreciate if you can help with what is the best guess that can be causing this problem. Thank you in advance! Parham

We don't have that car here in the US so we can't tell you anything specific. I can tell you the first thing you have to do is have the codes read to get a starting point. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

probably one of your coil on plug, like HT said we need the code. looks like your coil over plugs are all connected on a housing. can they each be individually removed and switched around? if the code is a misfire for a cylinder, what ever that cylinder is, move its associated coil over plug with another cylinder coil over plug. clear the code, start the car and run it if the check engine light comes on, read the code. if the code has moved to the cylinder you did the exchange it is the coil over. could also be the throttle body needs cleaning, air filter clogged....the code will tell.

sorry just another guess here, but this guess is well educated based on your 10 minute count down u were expeireincing. Often when u start the car cold, its in closed loop mode which means it opens the throttle a bit and maps some more fuel in, which can hide (mask) a major air leak in the intake system. It kinda sounds to me like an air intake leak, letting unmetered air in. Open the bonnet wihth engine on and let it get hot, and when its hot, can u hear a hissing anywhere? usualy if its bad enough to cause large stumbles and constant vibration u can usually hear it leaking. Also, a common trait of such a large vacuum leak is the rpm surging up and down.
