Car shakes and stops!

Well I really had enough of my car, I tried fixing it on my own since my budget is limited and dont want to go to mechanic and end up wasting lots of cash, really I don't know whats wrong exactly. This is what happens: *After driving the car will actually tremble and complete shutdown, leaving my stuck in the street lol... *The car will turn on just fine but after accelerating a few times it will turn off. Could anyone give me a few hints as to what I can check for. By the way the car is a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Station Wagon. (yeah crappy car but hey it gets me around) And thanks to anyone who can help me solve this problem.

Not knowing what you have tools for or able to do I suggest replacing fuel filter for starters. What engine? Plugs probably wouldn't hurt either but also not the immediate problem. Many are in-line under car and not so easy to come apart (lines rust or stick badly) and take some tools and or ability to replace lines just to change them. Pretty sure you'll find flare nut lines for that. Spray them now with PB for a best chance of no problems and use real flare nut wrenches. If it looks bad you'll save by getting help - not busting you but that's part of why shops charge some $$ for doing the impossible! T

Yep,....a minor tune-up could do wonders...plugs/wires/airfilter even help the gas milelage on it....and God knows we all need help on that.

I was thinking maybe it had something to do with ABS system, I forgot to mention, my problems began when I try to brake, that's when my car starts shaking and then completely shuts down.

I'm not sure about this, but the problem is similar to one I had last week......the brake caliber was sticking and cause the rotor to heat up enough to lock up the wheel and the engine would stall until it cooled down....which only took a minute or so......and since the ABS light had came on, that would be the logical place to start...a visual inspection of the brakes/and its parts I would do first
