Chevy Malibu Random Starts Sign In

I have a 96 chevy malibu 166.000 miles
Wont start lights flicker and the power cuts in and out when the key is turn on, sometimes the car starts other times it does not recently some one hardwired a fan switch in the car do to the fact that the fan would not turn on once the car got up to running temp.
It ran for awhile then starting having this problem no idea where to start do not know if it has a auto shutdown or if its just a short in the wiring. ill keep looking but any tip or comment would be very helpful :)

Check the battery but these have a history of ignition switch problems.

SmileRandom starts deserve a random reply, and this is it.

This is my first post here. So actually it's just a test. But I chose

your topic because I had a similar problem once.

GM product, V8 with the starter and solenoid down by the

oil pan. Ok what it was is a CRACKED SOLENOID. A brand new

part, it had a hair line crack in it - almost invisible. But lots of fun.

Of course it was the LAST thing I checked because hey, it was

new right? So basically the car would start just fine. Except when

the parts reached some exact temperature every week or so.

Then nothing, zip, whole car dead as a door nail. So then after

5 to 60 minutes depending on the weather it would all light back

up again and run fine. Till the nextime.
