I repaired the striped thread of the plug hole of aluminium oil pan. I did when the pan is in the car. I couldn't remove 100% shaving during taping. Will the pieces harm the engine? Please answer.

Thank you guys for your valuable time. I used grease to catch the shavings but I am afraid a small portion of the shavings might have gone into the pan. I also let the vehicle idle for 5 minutes after oil change. There is no leak now. As I was concentrating on the arrest of the leak, I forgot to flush the engine.

No problem: If you think you were successful to re-tap the hole why not just screen the oil you took out into a clean container and use that to just test it's not leaking - without running engine? Then drain that out for new. Of course you don't want filings in with the oil!
A trick is to grease up tools like the drill and tap if you did it that way will get most and you see them,

Tom

Edit more in : Almost all engines with an oil filter will send oil thru filter first but not at higher RPMs or if clogged. Just idle it slow first run should be good enough to know you don't have filings or like springs of metal to mess engine up :)

I agree with everything EXCEPT running the engine. All that will do is get the chips lodged in the pickup screen. The chips are already at the bottom of the pan, just wash them away with a liquid. You can use engine oil or mineral spirits as long as you don't run the engine.

Good idea all around. BTW, this, with some thought should harm that engine so far 50 years dealing with this FROM A PERSON BEFORE I GOT IT CROSS THREADED A PLUG! None had issues later.

IDK if now still but they sold "oversize" DRAIN plugs were self-tapping still have some.

If plug has a gasket by most suggestions you replace that every time + nobody does.

Most important is that it doesn't leak after this fix, Tom

Thanks Greenleaf for your info.

Could you tell how the shavings will enter engine passing the oil filter in high RPM?

Sure: Oil filters by ALL designs I know of if more oil is used than could pass thru one by-pass it unfiltered. They have to the filter is a restriction. A new filter would pass more thru or IDK as you can't watch this, thru the filter and when demand for oil is lower.

I'm sure you did or will make out fine with this as long as you follow suggestions (most wouldn't and still be fine) but don't know the extent of debris inside?

Refresh that when drilling or tapping (tap and die tapping) use grease all over the drill or tap the debris will stick to that mostly.

In this case there's a screen Hammer mentioned IMO catches anything too large to cause harm or wouldn't be of much use to do that at all by design.

Sorry it ever happened - again if your tapping in threads for new wasn't straight enough the new plug wont seal.

Watch it like a hawk for a while mandatory. This happens a lot out there, so assorted fixes just know there's a limit to making that larger before you need a new oil pan! If lost all oil you lose the engine so it all matters,

Tom

This is really not that big a deal if done properly.

Just leave the plug out and pour a gallon of mineral spirits in the top and let it just wash out all the chips sitting next to the plug opening. After that replace the plug and fill the system with the proper amount of oil and your done.

I am very thankful to Tom and Hammer for their valuable suggestions.

I washed three times with the engine oil and every time before pouring to the engine I screened the oil thru a cotton cloth. First time there were some metal debris, second time very less than the first time and third time nothing. I hope the engine is safe now.

Go for it. BTW I did just happen see the mineral spirits in a gallon can for about $20 thought was lots more than that if you can do that or find it.

I say go - there's some risk in anything you've paid a lot of attention I trust it paid off so try it out.

If there's a failure it might have been there before any of this that you'd never know.

I want to hear that this was all a success so come back and say so,

Tom
