have two problems really. I have a 1976 corvette with 350 four speed. 1st. problem is tranny is locked in gear. While checking to see if I had got it out, I started the car and tried shiftting. I hadn't got it out. 2nd problem. Then while it was running it just quit. Now it won't turn over. There is no click click or anything. I think the alternator might be bad not sure though. All other electricle works except for interior lights now. What might be wrong and how do I trace it down. Thanks Putts

Your going to have to crawl under it and pull both shift levers back to neutral by hand. That happens when the shifter gets worn and it doesn't get all the way out of one gear before going into another. The starting problem seems unrelated but you just going to have to test the starter circuits and see if power is getting to the starter on the purple wire when the key is held in start position. If not, check your clutch switch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
