Engine Oil Pressure

Jeep Wrangler 6 cy automatic oil pressure gauge light comes on when idling after engine water temp warms up. When cold the oil pressure is 55 and holds to 40+ while driving. When water temp builds to 210 degrees, and brought to idle, the light gauge comes on. After stopped at idle and return to driving, building speed back to 30 mph the light gauge goes off. Had the sensor changed and a new oil pump but the problem remains. Mystifying!

The top answer if the pressures are correct is engine bearings (bad news) are worn beyond specs. Usually the beginning of the end for that engine................ But.............. A couple other things could do this if pressure is accurate and should be checked with a gauge on engine not dash gauge. 1. Gasoline getting in oil can thin it out way too much and do that. Not good new if that either. 2. Totally wrong viscosity oil and of substandard oil way overdue too many times for changing it. Verify it mechanically. If just common and worn to this point some fake junk can buy some time. If real it's in the fast lane to more and more problems till it croaks on you, T

You might want tom try a different brand of oil and different brand of filter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
