1999 Buick Lesabre 3.8 liter 6 cyl Two wheel drive Automatic 180000 miles Hello. Thank you for any help on this. The Fuel level indicator found pegged at Full, regardless of actual level. On a 2001 Lesabre I had the same problem. I was able to remove the sensor without removing the tank. I lightly sanded the contacts to make it work. My question on the 1999 is: can I fix it without removing the tank to get at the level sensor? Any additive/ mouse milk that will clean up the contacts if you think that is it? Thanks a lot. According to my service manual you had to pull the tank on the 99 model years; but they’ve been wrong in the past, so have a look in the trunk, right at the back of the rear seat for an access panel. To confirm that the problem is inside the tank; disconnect the electrical connector, back at the tank. On the wiring harness side, going away from the tank; ground the purple wire and turn the ignition to the run position. The fuel gauge should drop to empty; if everything outside of the tank is OK.
