That would be correct. Remove the engine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You can remove the cylinder heads without removing the engine, but since the timing chain cassettes are probably worn out, you might want to remove the engine and do both timing chains and cassettes. If it got hot enough to blow the head gaskets, it might be cheaper to find a good used salvage yard engine. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

With DS on this one. The book time for the timing chains alone is 22 hours and the chain set is over $500. Throw in a full head gasket set and machine shop costs and you could find a good used engine no problem.
