High oil pressur with acceleration..

2006 Chevy Silverado 1500. 75 K Miles. The Oil pressure is normal at idle. Oil pressure increases considerably with acceleration. performed oil change 300 miles ago. what would cause the high will pressure??

The speed of the oil pump is proportional to the rpm of the engine. The faster the pump spins the more oil that can be pumped. Since there is resistance from the bearing clearances in the engine, this will cause the oil pressure to increase with engine speed. There is a valve inside the oil pump that is designed to regulate the oil pressure from exceeded limits. If the oil pressure gets too high, it could blow the oil filter. I'd hook up a mechanical gauge to it and see if the readings you get jive with the gauge reading. You may have a bad sending unit, you may have a bad pressure relief valve.
