Ignition Problems 97 passport Sign In

i'm a novice car repair guy- i've been fixing my own cars when something breaks for the last ten years, but that's the extent of it

97 3.1ltr passport... engine cut out while driving, wouldnt restart. acts like there's no fuel. i replaced the fuel filter, same problem- checked fuel pressure from the pump by disconnecting the line at the filter and flipping to run- came squirting out pretty good. supposed to be at 43PSI, but i dont have a gage capable of doing a pressure check on the fuel line... whats the next best course of action? if i let it sit for a minute, it acts like it wants to catch and turn over, but then immediately drops back to empty rotating.

Quit while driving...

Check to see if you have spark,obtain a fuel pressure gauge and actually test the fuel pressure.

One thing that comes to mind is possibly the timing belt broke...If so,it may be game over for this engine .I believe its an interference engine.

I show it as a 3.2 L engine....

PRESSURE With Regulator Vacuum Hose Removed 48-55 Psi.

it is a 3.2ltr- the book psyched me out by having a section for a 3.1- i wouldnt have thought there was a 3.1, so i assumed i'd been mistaken about it being a 3.2

is there any way to check the timing belt for function without disassembling the entire fricken front of the engine compartment? i assume the crankshaft powers the timing belt, so that wont tell me anything

just checked it- has spark. so if it's not the fuel pump or filter, has spark- what else could it be (besides a timing belt- i cant have that)?

The camshafts should have covers that can be removed .You may be able to loosen one and/or take one off and look to see if the cams are turning while someone cranks the engine.
Been awhile since i looked at a Honda,but some vehicles have an access plug/cover in the timing cover itself or on the backs of the cam housings that can be looked thru to see if the cams are turning.
Also,can remove an oil filler cap and look into the engine to see if they're turning.(If its in the rocker cover,of course)

If your confident the fuel pressure is ok...Check to see if the injectors have pulse.
