Isuzu timing belt

I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo with a 3.2L DOHC 58K miles and am replacing the timing belt after it broke. I am trying to align the timing marks on the camshaft sprocket to the marks on the valve cover. Both the left and right side camshaft have "sprung" into place but the marks are still off. Can I keep turning them until they "spring" into the correct position? Thank You in advance

It's never going to "spring" into place. The cams have to be held in place while the belt is installed and if you have been rotating the engine with the belt off, you may have already bent all the valves. This can be a very costly lesson in not messing with timing belts if you are not experienced in doing them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
