My 3.8's final moment.

In my 3.8's final moment it let the world know it wasn't going down without a fight. Thats what i love about GM but I still plan to revive her. I was driving home in my Olds 98 with a 3.8 which was running seemingly fine when it started making a slight scratching sound when I accelerated. A couple of minutes later I noticed that the oil pressure was extremely low when I was idling at a light. It wasn't very long until the car was knocking louder than I have ever heard a car knock and by the time i found a place to stop (which was incidentally my boss's house) it was smoking like a freight train out of the grill. I had been looking for an excuse to put a 350 I had laying around into my Oldsmobile. It took a little work but she fit in. Never the less i don't want to waste my 3.8, it such a reliable motor and with todays gas prices i would like to put it to use, but what is wrong with it? PS (1992 olds 98 3.8 liter)

How the heck did a "350" go in a 92 Olds 98? The old engine is junk with your description. Get a whole one used if you want it back that way again, T
