Oil Pressure Issue Landcruiser 1985 Sign In

Hi
I have a 1985 MWB Landcruiser 70 series with a 3F petrol motor.

When I bought the vehicle the oil pressure needle was broken so I put in an aftermarket electronic guage. Initially oil pressure was good and varying with revs as expected. I then took it on a long drive (70km) and after around 1 1/2 hours driving the oil pressure started dropping until it was fluctuating between zero and not very much. I believed it must have been the guage and the oil pressure recovered on the way home.

I recently drove the car again - pressure fine on drive to shops but then later dropping off to zero or not much again.

Is there a mechanical issue that can cause this or shoudl I be looking at the guage and its connections exclusively?

Cheers
Andrew

There could be. You might need to screw in an oil pressure test gauge to confirm if you have a gauge or mechanical problem.
