what is the year?mechanical fuel pump problem possible if not getting fuel to carb or plugged fuel filter. If fuel injected fuel pressure would have to be checked.

don't just pour fuel into intake.Best is to spray carb cleaner.Since it starts when fuel is added it is a fuel problem.Do you hear fuel pump run for 2 seconds when key is turned to the on position...not start position....on position? What size engine?

take gas cap off and have someone turn key to on position and listen.Pump should run for a few seconds to pressurize the rail.
