Starting Issues?????? Sign In

I have a 1987 Chevrolet 3/4 ton V20 with a 350 5.7L

When you first start it up it will run fine a few minutes then if you let it get to a low idle it will kill itself. But you can start it back up and repeat it, now after you drive it about 30 minutes or so and shut it off it will not restart and does not have any spark. I have changed the module in the distributor and the coil but it is doing the same.

Ok I will try that today........Yesterday talked to someone who works on GM and he told me to unhook the IAC valve and see if that was the cause (unhooking it would trick ECM into thinking you are driving). I unhooked it and the truck ran great for an hour at mid to high idle. So I went and bought a new IAC valve and the problem is still there. I was told it might be the ECM itself, so what kind of insight or suggestions do you guys have. On a side note I have only been able to drive the truck 1 out of the 6 months I have owned it.
