Surging Sign In

Hey folks, first off i drive a 95 GMC sierra 1500 SL with the 5.7L. It has the Throttle body injection on it. The problem is when holding a low speed, like in second gear if im holding around 10 MPH, i'll get surging until i let off or throttle up. Sometimes if i let off and press the clutch during the surging it will come very close to dying on me, but never has yet. WHen im sitting at idle it seems to run with only a very slight variable rough idle. I took it to wal-mart a while back (yeh i know... wal-mart...) and had them do an intake cleaning on it where they hook a canister of liquid up to it and it slowly drips through and burns off. Sorry im not sure of the exact name of it at this time. What really throws me off, is it seems like maybe 1 out of 60 days if the temp outside or something is just right, it will run like a champ with no surging. So i can't call it a 100% all the time problem, but 99.9% of the time the surging is there. Anyone able to help me out here with some suggestions?

Re: Surging Sign In

?? I'd check hard for vacuum leaks with anything to do with intake vacuum. Especially gaskets and items of throttle body and intake manifold. Sometimes you can find those with spraying carb cleaner CAREFULLY directly at suspect spots and see if there's a change in idle speed or a stumble when it's "tickle" spot is hit.

That's doesn't always work and you do have to use care in trying that as carb or throttle body cleaner sprays can flash if at hot spots or overdone. There's a product called "Deep Creep" which is a penetrating spray that's foamy and with care could show little bubbles that got sucked in on a spot.

Just a guess and with caution would try that with a cooler engine and beware of hot spots as these things could flash up a fire if not carefully done and be ready if trying things like that,
