Thermostat housing leaking

OK, I started burning through coolant, I assumed I had a blown head gasket although I wasn't seeing any temp increases. 150k miles on an 04 sporttrac. I added pour-and-go by Blue devil. It cleared it up for 4 days them started leaking again. I decided to give the additive stuff one more try before taking it to a shop so I bought the more expensive blue devil that requires the removal of the thermostat. After taking the thermostat out and flushing the system I added water to the system just like the directions. After starting the vehicle tho the water I added POURS out of the thermostat housing right where the actual thermostat bolts under....I don't recall that being permatexed or sealed tho....could this be my problem? And yes the bolts are tight. The system flushed perfectly with free flowing water so there is no blockage.

So............. you didn't decide to gum up your system once with snake oil, you did it twice. So now in addition to your original problem, you likely have a plugged up radiator also from your "Mechanic in a Can" experiment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Whatever this vehicle is "sporttrack" doesn't say which to me but so be it. Read the label on the junk you bought TWICE! Been a while but all such snake oil once said if this doesn't work, mechanical repair is indicated - right? Should be the only thing written on the bottle. Sorry they make that stuff at all. Thread sealer for bolts into cooling system is suggested but lack of it wouldn't pour out coolant/water in this case rather just seep some if at all. High bet you've busted the thermostat housing, many can't tolerate being tightened up improperly or thermostat all crooked now smashed inside? Now you have the original problem plus getting this junk flushed out and it probably wont flush out completely so the real problem and diagnosis is probably going to be harder. At least tell the shop that now you almost certainly need you've put sealer in the thing to help with getting it diagnosed and fixed, T

Well, first of all I didn't know I registered for a forum full of ass holes. Not everyone has an extra grand to throw at a blown head gasket either. I was hoping for some helpful advice and I got slack from a couple pricks...

You don't even know if problem was or is a head gasket issue. Not a thousand bucks but probably more like 2, maybe more. I said I'm sorry they sell that stuff as it just makes everything worse and you'll find that out, T
