Yes these engines are an interference engine and if the timing belt jumps, breaks or for whatever reason the engine goes out of time there is a 90% chance that the valves will become bent from hitting the pistons. I’ve seen in a few cases that after a timing belt has failed and the valves bent it also cracked the cylinder head; those were on the 1.6Lt. After that being said; there is still a 10% chance that the valve are not bent but you would have to have the whole horse up your arss not just his shoe to be that lucky. Dan.
