camry hesitation Sign In

1995 camry 4 cylinder starts well cold but as it enters the loop has a flat spot in acceleration and will die when put into drive if not goosed. I have put in new fuel filter and new coil and rotor and cap. new plugs.. cts..took off and cleaned throttle bore and iac and ohmed iac sensor at 20 ohms. I have taken egr off and cleaned it and cleaned modulator filter and changed upstream o2 all for no change. The engine shows no codes. I rechecked timing today and saw that the timing mark is unstable and drifts between 5 and 10 degrees. I used infrared thermometer and checked cat and found that the top at exhaust flange read 400 and the bottom of cat read 190 degrees. I am at a standstill now and hopelessly baffled..please help

How does it run at higher speeds?

When did this problem start? Out of the blue or was it a slow progression up to this point? If it was out of the blue then try to think back to what was going on......just filled up....did some maintenance work...hit a big bump....lent the car to a buddy....etc

sorry I didn't get back sooner..it started suddenly. It's my granddaughter's car and I drove it to my garage where it's been for a month now. I have racked my skull trying to figure this out I am now almost sure it's the cat....any thoughts?
