egr??? Sign In

1989 doge dakota 2WD 2.5L TBI SOHC 4cyl i drove it to the store just fine. when i came out and tried to start it it shook the engine kind of violently. heres the part were i sound stupid. popped the hood and discovered the part on top of the egr vave at the bottem of it were the hose connects to base of the egr was broken off it was super glued in place and looks okay it still would not start until the next day it ran for quite awhile now you can crank and crank and it will not start back up. could this egr valve even though it is "fixed" still be the problem with starting for a while then the next day nothing?

project; The EGR valve won't keep the engine from starting. It could make it run lousy, but... We need to know if you have spark at the plugs and fuel to the injectors. I would plan on replacing the EGR valve, regardless, though.

it has spark. if you prime it it will run but the die again. after the problem started we had it running for a half an hour or so. the next day nothing with out priming it and dies again.
