I have just bought a 1990 Firebird and have been trying to get it to run. I have determined it is the fuel pump. The electric fuel pump is in the fuel tank and it requires the removal of the rear springs and dropping the exhaust pipes. I do not have the equipment to do this extensive work. My question is, can I put an in line fuel pump that delivers the pressure at 9-13 psi (according to the manual) in palce of replacing the in tank fuel pump. I have been told this should work but I was wondering if anyone out there has actually done it?

I've seen that work on a car that wasn't worth $50 bucks but would never do that. I strongly suggest putting it back to OEM for safety if nothing else. T
