engine operating temperature Sign In

My co-worker has a 2007 Chev 2500 crew cab truck with a 6.6L turbo diesel engine and around 120K kms.He says the operating temperature is 85 degrees instead of the usual 100.The thermostats were changed with no difference.Last night when he arrived home,he removed the rad cap and there was no hiss or anything. There is also cardboard in front of the rad.

85 degrees?

Are we talking Celsius or Fahrenheit?

I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers from because normal operating temp is not 100 C. The thermostat starts to open at 188F or 87C. The fans are engineered to trigger at 220F but I doubt you would ever see that temp in that climate.
