1999 Isuzu Amigo 2.0 136k(new engine) I just bought this amigo about 2 months ago...my dads friend rebuilt the engine and drove it for about 5k miles before i bought it with no problems. When i got it i noticed it had no oil so we did an oil change since it was due for one anyway. Since then i have checked the oil twice and both times the dipstick was dry and clean, no water on it. both times ive filled it with oil again only for it to disappear. i checked the coolant and its fine. also i have checked if its leaking or burning oil and it doesnt seem to be doing either, since i cannot find a drop of oil on the motor, ground or anywhere else and the car does not smoke unless its cold and then its white smoke. i do believe my catalytic converter is plugged or something because the car has recently began to bog down when going up an incline but this problem just started within the last few days while oil has been disappearing for 2 months. Does anyone have any idea what this problem could be? Thanks

well we just looked at this again to find it is burning a small amount of oil...but not nearly the 10 quartz that its gone threw this month...any ideas?

I really don't have any ideas on this one. That's a huge amount of oil to be going thru. It has to be going somewhere. If it's not going on the ground, then it has to be burning it. The only other place it could go would be the cooling system but that would be obvious as well.........

Check, or just replace, the PCV valve. These can go 'bad' and 'suck' oil out of the crankcase without any signs. Cheap guess. Valve guide seals would give you a clue by a puff of blue smoke on start up or deceleration. Rings would cause blue smoke all of the time. Catalytic converters do not 'like' oil. It is possible that it is partially plugged if it's been going through that much oil. This can be checked with a pressure guage installed into the oxygen sensor port. You also may want to check the fuel filter for blockage. Loren SW Washington
