\\\I have a 2005 dodge Durango 4.7L, replaced the heads, valves, cam shaft and installed 2 oil pumps, changed the oil sending unit and PCV my problem is I can drive for about 20 miles and the oil light starts blinking and then stays on the I hear the lifters rattle. I need advice on what to check on next I am at my wits end. Teri

Have you connected a pressure gauge to monitor oil pressure? You could have main or rod bearing clearance issues or even a gallery plug leaking. It is hard to find the source of the problem because you can't see inside the engine. There are only two ways of finding out where the pressure is being lost. One is to drop the pan and connect a pressurized oil tank to the lubrication system and watch to see where excessive oil is coming from. Number two is tearing down the engine and inspecting everything. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

in addition to my colleagues ideas- quick & EASY When the pressure drops - quickly check what is the oil level in the pan? If there is oil is it aerated, ?

Did you replace the pick up tube and screen? looks like this as you should know........ If somehow that is bent or sucking air for any reason that's a good reason for this. To be replaced with oil pump every time. IDK if one matches another exactly? Cam replacement: If bearings are spilling out way too much oil pressure would plummet too. Just thoughts for now as you've been back there twice...... T (Edit one more thought) If oil collects in valve covers not returning for any reason that too. Some and IDK on this if gaskets are wrong or different one side to another or upside down might take a while to return oil but would think not enough right away if that?

I have a question for you.......... Has anyone ever got the bright idea to do an engine flush to this?
