I have 2001 Monatana which runs great but every so often overheats. New rad, new thermostat, water pump ok, correct presurre in rad. Runs with no loss of power and smooth even when starting to overheat. Sometimes takes 2 days (5 to 6 hours driving) to overheat. No oil in water, no water in oil, no steam from exhaust. No exhaust gasses in water (checked with rad cap chemical tester) No bubbling in the water (air) When it overheats the heater blows luke warm and the heater hose is not to hot. If i crack the the 2 bleeders then only steam comes out, no water. Fill up the water when cool and will run for maybe 3 days then overheat, sometimes 1 day, it is frustrating.

It's likely losing coolant from somewhere. That engine is known for both intake manifold gasket leaks and head gasket problems. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
