removing crankshaft position sensor Sign In

My car (1990 Pontiac 6000 v6 3.1 liter) will crank but it only idles for a while then goes dead, it will start again but only idles before going dead again. If i try to put the car in gear it stalls, but will crank again when i attempt to start it, but will only stall again. The car was running just fine when i was coming from work. Then it wouldnt build up any power then it went dead. I could only crank it and get up to 5 mph for 10 blocks home, it seemed like it wouldnt burn the gas and build up power. I was told it could be the crankshaft position sensor and want to know what is the easiest way to remove the crankshaft position sensor and any info on problems that these symptons could be on a 1990 Pontiac 6000 v6 3.1 liter

He's probably wrong. i would test the fuel pressure first.

Here is the spec

Ignition ON Engine OFF 40.5 to 47.0 psi
With Regulator Vacuum Applied [1] 3.0 - 10.0 psi Less than Ignition ON Engine OFF

I checked the vacuum pressure and fuel pressure and i got 20psi vacuum, and 39psi fuel pressures.

If the engine wasn't running when you took that reading, then you don't have enough fuel pressure.
