1996 Toyota Landcruiser 122,000 miles... I recently had the front sway bar links replaced. Subsequently, the steering felt loose, had it looked at and was told it was fine - just a little play due to age of the vehicle. Less than 100 miles since the steering was looked at and less than two months after the sway bar links were replaced, the front passenger ball joint broke causing major undercarriage damage (axle, spindle..). Are these related or just coincidence on the timing?

when a steering system feels loose it indicates bad parts. Since it happened right away when it was worked on could be a coincidence, but when it was looked at again it should've been caught and wasn't. A loose ball joint is a bad ball joint and whoever looked at it and said it was fine is someone I wouldn't recommend going back to in the future. Sorry to see this happen to you.
