I have 2 problems on a 1986 5.0l chevy c10 pickup. I ck for spark from plug wires at distributor and got nothing. Was told to test igniton coil. I wanted to get info to make sure I do it right. The coil has 3 wires black red and yellow. My other problem is I ck for fuel. I lossend up the fuel line from the fuel pump [witch I was told was in the front of truck under engine passenger side] to the carburator, and turned the key to the on position and got no fuel. This is my first 1986 no start. Yes I don't have much knowledge in this area So am I suppose to hear the pump like you do when there in the tank. Cause I didn't hear anything in the on position. If I did these step right. What do I try now? Jesus is good.

If you have a carburetor, then you don't have an electrical fuel pump at all. You would have a mechanical pump driven of the camshaft that only pumps when the engine is cranking. The ignition modules were a common failure in those. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
