upper radiator hose collapsing Sign In

2007 Chrysler Pacifica Touring w/ 4.0 liter. Did an antifreeze flush and refill and changed the thermostat w/oe 195 degree. Having trouble with heat so I flushed heater core. After running vehicle both hoses going to heater core are hot but still no heat in vehicle. I've noticed when car is cold that the upper radiator hose is collapsed flat but after engine heats up the hose reinflates to normal. This continues as engine cools down and heats up. What would cause this to happen? I've noticed that my cars radiator temp gauge will reach about 200 degrees, the fans will come on then the gauge will drop to about 180 degrees then when gauge hits 200 degrees this process starts all over again. I'm not use to this because my Chrysler Town & Country reaches a certain temp and stays there. Whats up! Could no heat in cabin be blend door actuator or temp sensor but what's up with cllapsed upper radiator hose?

? Hose collapse is the clue to problem. It shouldn't so easily was freakin' 50+ years ago they put springs in them so water pumps wouldn't suck one closed.
OK - No heat and collapsing hose. 1st would stop this hose thing by testing the pressure cap which also has to allow air in as coolant contracts yet hold pressure as it expands. Hose still should do that so easily so "pressure cap" should go or try to find a tester for both vacuum and the correct pressure IDK of one for this it's probably just spent.

Can't allow this with any car/vehicle your temps shouldn't really drop to 180 once up to temp so there's another accuracy problem on top I think? Cap first but that wont be the end of this problem,

Listen to Tom on the radiator hose thing.

On your heater problem, if both hoses are hot to the touch, then you do have a blend door issue.

Also, make sure you are getting all the air pockets out for the system from the refill.
