Hi guys is vacuum reading test a good method of finding if an engine is mechanically heathy

Vacuum tests are part of knowing certain things are OK or not. There isn't one single test that is going to prove an engine is good or not. You still need to know where to hook up for checks allowing vacuum to continue on to whatever it was being sent to as well,

Welcome of course. Vacuum info is still good for testing and diagnosing things. Find or verify exhaust restrictions as a double check, intake manifold leaking on poorly sealed engine. Bouncing needle for bad valves - other stuff all around.

I can't post it from a paper book but it's good info still for several things as said. Right up to is there a vacuum however slight at an oil dipstick tube on some indicated PCV system is working. Handy is the pistol hand pump with the gauge and assortment of adaptors to put it in line or test vacuum diaphragms etc.,
