this morning my wife said the van would crank but not start. after a long time cranking it started she drove about a block to the store, came back out and cranked for a long time to get it started, on the way back home it died several times till she got it back in the driveway. when i got home it had no spark. i changed the dist. cap rotor and the ignition control mod. it started right up. i drove it about 4 blocks no problem, on the way back i stopped at a stop sign it died, started right up, i drove it 2 more blocks stopped at a stop sign it died , started right up, pulled in the driveway stopped it died and wouldn't start. checked for spark, no spark. ??? 94 chevy astro 4.3 vortex could i have gotten a bad ignition mod.

I took the new ign. module back and had them check it, it checked ok. I told them when I put it in it started, ran a few blocks and the died. They gave me a new module, I put it in and the van runs good, I drove it, still running ok. Maybe it's fixed.

You'll have to determine if the module is burnt out again. if it is, then you may have a coil that's drawing too much current and damaging the modules. Change the coil along with the module this time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I WAS GOING TO GET A DIFFERENT MOD, BUT FIRST I TRYED THE COIL FROM MY TRUCK, NO SPARK, SO I LEFT THE CAP OFF AND PUT A SPARK PLUG IN THE WIRE FROM THE COIL. I HAD MY SON I LAW CRANK THE MOTOR WHILE I WIGGLED ALL THE WIRES. I GOT TO THE DIST AND MOVED THE PICK UP COIL LEEDS NOTHING CHANGED UNTIL I MOVED THEM QUITE A BIT, SODDENLY I GOT SPARK, MOVED THEM BACK NO SPARK, I FOUND IT, IT WAS THE PICK UP COIL, I CHANGED IT AND HAVENT HAD ANY MORE TROUBLE. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS.
