Smell of Fuel around exterior of vehicle Sign In

Hello everyone,

I drive a 2014 B250 Mercedes. Recently, I took my car in to get a sensor wire replaced (chewed by a rodent) and the fuel tank had to be dropped in order to reach the wire. Immediately after this work was done, I could smell gasoline around the exterior of the vehicle. The odour seems to be emanating from beneath the vehicle - not from the gas cap area. There is no fuel leaking, so I am thinking it some type of seal? Anyone care to guess why this would be? In the process of dropping a fuel tank, are there seals that could have been opened? (Sorry, I have no clue!!).

I plan on taking it back to the same place, but wanted some insight from whoever may know.

Thanks!!

They may have just spilled some fuel when they did the job but they also may have broken off one of the plastic connectors if they stretched the hoses dropping the tank.

I would wait till tomorrow and see if it's still there. Don't park it in a garage in the meantime.
